Shahab Hosseini movie to vie at Berlinale

‘Any Day Now’ is to vie at the Berlin Int’l Film Festival.

‘Any Day Now’ starring Iranian superstar Shahab Hosseini is set to take part in the 2021 Berlinale- Berlin International Film Festival.

Directed by Iranian-Finnish filmmaker Hami Ramezan, the film will be screened at the Generation Kplus section of the German fest’s 71st edition.

According to the official website of the event, this specific section the “Generation 14plus are two competition programs screening state-of-the-art international cinema for young audiences and everyone else…”.

In production of ‘Any Day Now’, what inspired Ramezan was his own personal experiences upon his arrival in Finland in 1990.

The film narrates the story of a young boy of 13 whose life in a village in Finland turns upside down when his parents’ application for asylum gets rejected.

Shahab Hosseini portrays the role of the father of this particular family who don’t sink into despair regardless of their insecure and uncertain life in a country that does not want to accept them.

Aran-Sina Keshvari, Shabnam Ghorbani and Kimiya Eskandari are the rest of the cast members of the flick.

This year’s edition of the Berlin International Film Festival will be held online due to the pandemic.

The event will take place in two phases. The first one will be from March 1-5, 2021 and the other one which is the Berlinale Summer Special will be in place from June 9 to 20.
